About this tool

Markdown to HTML without uploading

Create headings, lists, bold text, italic text, code blocks and web links. Download the generated HTML to use in a website or another editor.

Before you start

This lightweight converter deliberately supports only a subset of Markdown. Raw HTML from input is escaped.

Are files uploaded to a server?

No. Your input is handled locally in the browser. Some tools load JavaScript libraries from public CDNs, but NowConverter has no file-upload endpoint.

Do I need an account or a paid plan?

No. The current version is free, has no registration and runs on devices with a compatible modern browser.

Does this support every Markdown feature?

No. This is a basic converter for common headings, lists, emphasis, links and code blocks, not a complete CommonMark renderer.

Markdown is a writing syntax; HTML controls the final structure

Markdown makes common formatting quick to type, while HTML is what many publishing systems ultimately render. Converting Markdown is useful for previews, documentation and moving content into systems that expect markup. Different Markdown flavours support different extensions, so tables, task lists or embedded HTML may not behave identically everywhere.

Generated HTML should still be reviewed before publishing. Styling comes from CSS rather than Markdown itself, and any untrusted HTML deserves careful sanitisation in systems that allow user-submitted content. NowConverter focuses on common syntax rather than reproducing every platform-specific Markdown extension.

Practical checks

Practical walkthrough · markdown html

Preview a short README before publishing

Example task: A README contains # Installation followed by a fenced code block with a command.

Try this workflow

  1. Paste the Markdown and convert it to HTML.
  2. Review the generated headings, code block and links.
  3. If the HTML will be used on a website, render it in your own page and check how your stylesheet affects it.

What to expect

Markdown headings and code fences become markup that browsers can render, subject to the converter’s supported syntax.

When to take extra care

HTML conversion is not a security sanitizer. Treat untrusted Markdown and generated HTML carefully before inserting it into a live site.
