What is NowConverter?
NowConverter is an independent collection of everyday file and text tools. NowConverter focuses on useful workflows that can run reliably in a modern browser: images, PDFs, audio and video tools, AI transcription, OCR, file inspection, CSV/JSON, text, QR codes and ZIP archives.
How do the tools work?
HTML, JavaScript and Web APIs perform each operation locally. The ZIP tool uses a bundled JavaScript library. PDF and QR tools download free public JavaScript libraries only when needed; OCR Assist downloads Tesseract.js and language models, the AI Image Upscaler downloads its local inference runtime/model, and the AI Transcriber downloads Transformers.js plus a Whisper model when requested. These program and model files come to the browser; selected user files are not sent to a NowConverter conversion server. There is no account or cloud file storage.
Limitations
Browser decoding varies by device. Unusually large files may run out of memory. Please retain your originals, check converted results and verify official document requirements before relying on an output.

Why NowConverter includes guides as well as tools
A file tool is more useful when the person using it understands the trade-offs. NowConverter therefore publishes practical notes about image formats, PDF structure, OCR, subtitle formats, metadata, checksums and browser processing. The guides are written around the behaviour and limitations of the tools on this site rather than copied from generic format lists.
When a tool changes, the surrounding explanation is reviewed so instructions do not promise a feature the browser cannot reliably provide. NowConverter avoids claims such as “lossless” or “secure” unless the specific operation supports that description. Where a task can affect official documents, confidential information or file integrity, the page includes limitations and verification steps.
Independence and support
NowConverter is independently developed. There is no paid account tier for the current tools. Optional visitor support and advertising help cover hosting, testing and continued development. Advertising is kept separate from the actual file-processing controls, and selected file contents are not sent to an advertising service.
