Are files uploaded to a server?
No. The input file bytes are processed inside your browser. Some tools download their JavaScript libraries from public CDNs, but the files themselves are not uploaded.
Convert JPG, PNG, WebP and browser-supported images to up to eight formats, directly in your browser.
Enable JavaScript to use the tool.
Switch between image formats, adjust quality, resize a photo and download the result from your browser. Common image types supported by your browser can also be used as input.
For transparent images, use PNG or WebP. JPEG does not support transparency, so any empty background becomes white.

No. The current version is free, has no registration and runs on devices with a compatible modern browser.
NowConverter exports JPG, PNG, WebP, BMP, uncompressed TIFF, single-frame GIF and multi-size ICO. AVIF appears only when browser encoding is supported. Input formats depend on browser decoding support.
Not yet. GIF output contains a single still frame, and HEIC decoding depends on your browser. We do not claim animated GIF or reliable HEIC conversion in this release.
Image formats make different trade-offs. JPEG is widely compatible and efficient for photographs but does not preserve transparency. PNG preserves sharp edges and alpha transparency but can be much larger for photographic content. WebP and AVIF can produce smaller web images at comparable visual quality, although compatibility with older software may matter if the file will be edited or delivered to someone else.
Converting a lossy image into another lossy format cannot restore detail that was already discarded. Repeated JPEG-style recompression can introduce ringing, blocking or softness. If you expect to edit an image repeatedly, keep a high-quality master and make delivery copies from that master rather than converting the same compressed copy over and over.
Example task: A photo was saved as PNG and the webpage needs a smaller photographic asset.
JPEG is widely compatible for photos, while WebP can offer efficient compression; browser encoding capabilities vary.
A format change does not add missing detail. Unsupported decoders, animated sources and HEIC images may require another workflow.
